My Top Seven Beauty Loves from 2017

Can you believe we are already half way through January 2018?! Nope, me neither. I had been planning for this post to be one of the first I published in the year, but it seems time has already run away from me. Anyway before I ramble on too much about how time is passing so quickly, back to the business in hand!

For me 2017 really was the year of beauty discovery, I found my groove and the products that I not only really loved but also made a huge difference to my skin. If you’ve been here a while you’ll know that I’m always banging on about my quest for clear skin.

I also found those influencers who I felt I could relate to in terms of beauty and skincare products. I’m looking at you Caroline Hirons, EJStyle and Style Lobster – you guys are the reason for my dented bank balance and my every growing products draw.

I was going to split this down into separate skincare and make up posts but as 2017 is nearly long gone, it’s all in one.

So what did I really love in 2017?

On the skincare front Glossier features quite prominently, I think it was probably one of the most hyped beauty launches of the whole year. Often when a brand has been completely over hyped I’m always feeling a little ‘meh’ when I try the products but not with Glossier, everything I’ve used really has made a difference to my skin.

Super Pure Serum – I love this serum and use it every morning before my moisturiser. I’ve noticed that it has dramatically reduced the redness in my skin and also helped tackle the blemishes.

Mega Greens Galaxy Pack – 2017 turned into the year of the facemask, you literally couldn’t move for masks. Sheet, dry, charcoal, peelable and even blue, oh and don’t forget multi-masking. Anyway out of the many I tried Mega Greens made a significant difference to my skin, it drew out toxins and left my skin feeling cleaner.

Facemask and mascara

No. 7 Airbrush Awa Radiance Boosting Primer – For me No. 7 products were always something I used to buy in my youth but as I got older it’s a brand I’ve drifted away from until now….. I was sent this primer after taking part in the 30 plus bloggers Twitter chat before Christmas and I really like it. It’s light diffusing and leaves my skin looking healthier before applying foundation. This is going to be a firm feature in my make-up bad throughout 2018.

MAC Haute & Naughty Lash – I finally found a mascara that I truly loved and didn’t leave my lashes looking all clumpy and spikey. I love the dual wiper system which means I can have either really defined or voluminous lashes. I tend to go for the more defined look as the dramatic lash look tends to make my eyes look smaller.

Glossier Boy Brow – WOW WOW WOW, this is just such a good product. Being blonde my eyebrows are quite fair and Boy Brow compliments my colouring really well without giving me a scouse brow (which I’m always terrified of). I’m also a bit useless when it comes to my brows and this is pretty much idiot proof!

Marc Jacobs Frivoluxe Palette – The 2018 Pantone colour of the year is Ultra Violet which is one of the shades in the Frivoluxe palette. Although I’m not quite brave enough to use it, the smoky grey shades are gorgeous and are perfect for an evening look. I also love how sleek the black packaging is.

Charlotte Tilbury, Pillow Talk – I feel in love with the original lip liner which is quite literally the perfect nude shade and then the matte lipstick came out. OMG – game changer, this is my go-to shade for any occasion.

So that’s my top seven favourite beauty and skincare products from 2017. Do you have any favourites you’ll stay loyal to this year?

I haven’t tried any of the Glossier products. One of my promises to myself this year is not to buy things until I actually need them, but it’s killing me – I have a huge list of wants on my phone!

I’m trying that too, I’m really trying to curb my spending this year. The Glossier products are well worth the money, the mega greens mask is so good for skin detoxing. There are so many things on m list i’d like to invest in but I know I don’t need another lipstick to add to the 15 I already have! x
