Ever since Beauty Pie launched I’ve been both intrigued and unsure in equal measure. Obviously I love the idea of luxury beauty and skincare at low prices but I was originally put off by the monthly subscription fee.
My lovely friend EnglishMum has been raving about Beauty Pie for ages and I finally took her advice and took the plunge to sign up. First bonus, she had a code for the first month free and second bonus as a new member my monthly spend cap was doubled!
I thought I’d share my very first impressions, as in just opened the box and tried things on the back of my hand.
So, what did I order? Two things I definitely didn’t need and the one thing I actually did.
Starting with what I actually needed – super healthy skin daily moisture lotion. This promises to be brightening, smoothing and nourishing. First thoughts – the packaging feels expensive and sturdy and the formula on the back of my hand is rich and lightweight and soaks in without leaving that ikky, sticky feeling some moisturisers do. It only cost £6.34 and definitely feels like more expensive moisturisers I’ve previously used. The proof will be in the pudding when I start using it regularly.
Next up the two things I didn’t need but was drawn to like a magpie to shining things.
First up the One Palette Wonder – this is exactly like the Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look in a Palette but a fraction of the price. It includes a super natural tan bronzer, a highlighter with what I think is rose gold undertone, two blushers – one rose and one peach and three eyeshadows one of which has a slight shimmer. The packaging is weighty and looks expensive plus is has a massive mirror in the lid – not bad for £6.23.
My final purchase, again something I didn’t need was the Perfect Pocket Palette in Very Plum Plums. Out of the three things I bought, this was the most expensive at £8.78. This has a set of five baked eyeshadows in buildable shades for a gorgeous smokey eye look. Again the packaging feels sturdy and luxury with another massive mirror in the lid.
I must point out again that this is only a first impressions post, beyond testing the moisturiser on the back of my hand, I haven’t swatched anything else yet.
All in all I’m really impressed so far, well apart from the delivery cost. I don’t know what it is but I could had a shopping basket filled to the brim online but the minute they add postage my brain says ‘erm no thank you’ anyone else do this?
Once I’ve used everything I’ll do a little update with my second impressions.
